Samsung continues to deliver better value to Galaxy users with pre-installed apps like Samsung Internet, My Files, Calendar, Messages, and more. These apps are feature-rich and blend perfectly with the rest of the interface. Samsung Internet browser is one such example, and it is also available for other Android phones from the Google Play Store.
However, the app works best on Samsung devices. If you plan to move from a Samsung-branded phone to another Android phone, you should look for a Samsung Internet browser alternative from the Play Store.
1. Google Chrome
Google Chrome comes preloaded by default on every Android phone. It’s by far the most popular browser out there with billions of users. Simply sign in with your Google account and you can sync your passwords, bookmarks, sessions, and other data.
The Chrome browser makes sense for everyone switching between Mac, Windows, and Android. The Recent tabs is a neat add-on that allows users to keep the tabs in sync among platforms.
As for its Android experience, Google Chrome offers a lite mode to save data, group tabs to manage tabs, a Chrome password manager for a seamless login experience, Google News integration, dark mode, and more.
Our biggest gripe with the Chrome browser on Android is reachability. Most Android smartphones come with taller aspect ratios, and most options in the Chrome browser appear at the top. Google is experimenting with the bottom menu bar, but it’s far from perfect and yet to reach general users.
2. Microsoft Edge
Microsoft is one of the best browsers to use between Android and Windows. If you are using Windows, then look no further and go with Microsoft Edge as a Samsung Internet browser alternative on Android.
Microsoft recently rolled out an update to send webpages between Android to Windows and vice versa. We use it all the time as it makes the switching between desktop to mobile frictionless. We also appreciate Microsoft utilizing the bottom menu bar with the most-used options such as tabs, share, and more.
Microsoft Edge is based on the Chromium web engine, meaning it will work perfectly with most websites out there (something we can’t say about Firefox).
Other features include extensions, News add-on, and shopping feature that helps you find the best coupons for saving some money.
Microsoft Edge is free to download, and it’s available on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and even Linux.
3. Firefox
Firefox used to be a mess on Android. Users hated slow performance and scrolling lag while navigating through web pages. Mozilla finally got serious about the issue and announced project Fenix to build Firefox from the ground up.
The result is as good as it can get for Mozilla. The new Firefox is a worthy rival for the Samsung Internet browser. The company has completely redesigned the browser and placed all the necessary options at the bottom.
Firefox is using its custom web-rendering engine to load web pages. We had no problems loading graphics-heavy web pages. Firefox also allows you to add extensions to improve the browser functionality.
The feature list includes Enhanced tracking protection, Firefox Monitor, Firefox Lockwise integration, Pocket (Read it later) add-on, and more. It’s good to see that Firefox has completely removed the unnecessary news tab from the browser.
4. Brave
Brave browser has made a name for itself by focusing on privacy and security. The company offers essential information such as trackers & ad blockers, data saved, and estimated saved time right on the home page.
The standard options such as Home, Bookmark, Search, tab switcher, and more menu are at the bottom. The search bar may seem at the top, but it’s accessible from the bottom search menu. The home page offers a nice-looking wallpaper.
Brave is a Chromium-based browser and you can good scrolling and page load performance. It’s right up there with the Samsung Internet browser.
Brave has added Brave Rewards in the browser. Brave allows you to earn tokens BAT (Basic Attention Token) by viewing Brave ads. You will see the live value of these tokens from the above menu. Brave also offers you to reward creators using the earned rewards. Unfortunately, it misses out on Reading mode.
5. Vivaldi
Vivaldi has been around for past few years and made a name for itself with rapid development and cross-platform availability right from the start.
The browser offers other features like ad blocking, tabs style, theme, and sync option from the default home menu. Every aspect is customizable here. You can change the tabs style, tab viewing experience, change the default search engine, and more. There is no irrelevant news integration either.
Vivaldi has added the Vivaldi Game option in case you are bored of browsing the web. The browser is available on Windows, Mac, Android, and iPhone.
Better Mobile Browsing Options
While Samsung Internet is an excellent browser, it’s not natively available on the desktop. That may leave power users looking for alternatives.
